Hon. Oyet the deputy speaker argued the NSS to immediate release former Lord Moyar of Juba City Kalisto Lado

Juba, 31 March 2024; The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon Oyet Nathaniel Pierino urged the notorious National Security Service/ NSS whom he accused of arbitrary arrest of former Lord Mayor of Juba, Hon Kalisto Lado, to immediately release him from unknown location, and produce him to the police for legal prosecution if he had committed any crime amounting to persecution. Hon. Kalisto the former Lord Mayor of Juba City according to Hon Oyet was trailed and taken to an unknown location by NSS last night  at around 11:29PM, since then his whereabouts and his personal vehicle remain unknown.

“The National Security Services Continue to Apply Sections 54 and 55 of the National Security Services Act, 2014.” said by Hon Oyet according to the message he posted on his personal Facebook page.

Hon. Oyet the Deputy speaker of the parliament further said, “It has come to my attention that, last night, at and around. 11: 29 Pm, 30 March 2024, heavily mounted security vehicles trailed the former Mayor of Juba City, Mr. Kalisto Ladu. The security rounded him and picked him from his car around his house, took him and his car to an unknown location where he is being detained without charge.”

The message continues, “I am calling upon those who have arrested and are detaining the former Lord Mayor to respect the due process of law and produce him to the police and Court of law within 24 hours failure to do so shall be illegal to continue holding him under any pretext and such act shall be punishable by law.”

Hon. Oyet called the arbitrary arrest and continued to hold Hon. Kalisto by the National Security Services illegal, “Let it also be known to whoever is holding Kalisto that violations of local laws is not a privilege and it is contestable in regional and international Courts should the local remedies prove compromised.”

In conclusion, Hon Oyet said, “Similarly, I have also received report of gruesome torture of an innocent engineer by the elements of security organs. He was equally arrested, tortured and driven to different detention facilities around Juba. All these are happening in violation of fundamental human rights of persons and their civil liberties.” 

South Sudan National Security Services under President Kiir who appointed his cousin General Akol Koor Kuc  to head the country’s notorious security agent continue to act with impunity to commit Human rights violations. South Sudan ranks top among Human rights abuses according to the Human rights dog index.
