Nimule, 17 May 2022; Two Madi women and one man were tortured and slaughtered in Olikwi, a suburb of Nimule, the trio were tortured and slaughtered by Dinka Bor in Nimule just less than 24 hours after Eastern Equatoria state governor and high-level delegation dispatched by President Kiir to Nimule to ease the tension. 

During his address to the host Madi community and Dinka Bor IDPs, governor Louis Lobong called for coexistence between the host Madi community and Dinka Bor whose presence caused havoc and insecurity in the border town of Nimule and the entire Magwi County. 

The women who were residents of Olikwi two nights ago like other citizens left their homes in search of safety in the Motoyo area because Olikwi is situated in close proximity to Abila an area whose native inhabitants are displaced by Dinka Bor IDP and other Dinka. 

On Tuesday the two women took advantage of the presence of governor Lobong in town, they were escorted by some men to their home, and because the women had fled leaving behind their belongings which they now wanted to recuperate. 

In total disregard to the presence of the governor and the high-level security officials in town, the Dinka Bor in Nimule attacked the two ladies and one of the two men, brutally beat them to death with the second man narrowly escaping with his life. 

Per informant, the two ladies bodies showed signs of tortured and raped before they were murdered along with the man. 

The presence of the high-level delegation did little to ease the tension, from Sunday till today on daily basis between 50-100 families of Dinka have crossed to Uganda, and the Uganda government is resettling them in Arua district, West Nile.  

This publication has seen other ethnic groups running away from Nimule, one of the refugees who spoke to this report from Elegu Ugandan side anticipated that the Dinka are organizing to revenge killings against the Madi and Acholi in particular but Eastern Equatorian in general.
