Nimule, 16 April 2022; Tension was this morning at Nimule town after a National Security service junior officer with the rank of Lt Col identified as Atem Mading violently arrested and Detained, Maj General Martin Gama Abucha who doubled as National Minister of Mining.

The incident which undermined the confidence-building could have easily triggered another all-around war given SPLA-IO forces are just located 12 km away from Nimule. This also undermined the signing of the security agreement of command forces to merge their forces and graduate the unified forces which is the millstone of 2018, Khartoum peace agreement. It was not immediately clear who gave such an order for a junior officer to arrest a major general who doubled as a national minister, however, what is clear is in South Sudan it doesn't matter as long as you're not from the Dinka tribe even if you are Lt general a junior officer can arrest you.

The deadly incident occurred this morning at 7:30 am local time. The government National Security service forces located in Loa followed up the National Minister of Mining and intercepted him in Nimule border town.

South Sudan Liberty news has understood the junior office violently slapped Major general Martin Gama Abucha twice at the scene of the arrest before they drove him and his bodyguards back to Loa, 37 km away from the scene of the arrest.

According to Brig. general Okeny George Lam, Anyanya Division commander of SPLA-IO Aswa cantonment site, General Martin Gama Abucha was on his way to Adjumani district-Uganda to attend a funeral service of his relative.

General Abucha was accompanied by 1st Lt. Col. Diliga James, Capt. Madile Charles, Private Anyazo Patrick, and his driver Lagu, there were said to have two pistols in their possessions.

Brig general Okeny George in a press statement seen by this publication has accused Lt Col Atem Mading of causing insecurity in the area, this was also the officer who threatened to kill the commissioner of Magwi County.

" Lt. Col. Atem Mading and those behind him have repeatedly violated the R-ARCSS implementation without holding him accountable. This is unfortunate and must be treated as a matter of urgency!" lamented Brig Gen. Okeny a member of SPLA-IO.

At the time of filing this news, this publication has understood that General Abucha and his bodyguards were released and driven back to Juba.
