Juba, 7 January 2022; A high court in Juba on Friday, 7 January 2022, executed a former Juba University medical student Babu Emmanuel Lokiri. Babu Emmanuel the man whose gruesome act shocked the nation on 1 August 2020 by killing three siblings; 9 years Naomi, 7 years Blessing, and a 4-year-old Nor Edward.
The three children were killed in their family living room, preliminary report indicated the mother of the three siblings left the children watching a cartoon on TV when she went to market.
The shocking killing happened in Rock city in a first-class residential area in a suburb of the capital Juba. the killing at the time prompted the nation's head of state President Kiir who ordered the police to bring the perpetrator to the book and must be hung to avoid repetition of the same incident by other criminals.
A year after the case has gone cold, today a high court judge in the nation's capital made a surprising announcement, which confirmed to the media that Babu Emmanuel has been put to death by hanging.
Judge Ogwili Kuot, the President of the High Court in Juba confirmed this while conducted by our correspondent.
The high court in Juba in August 2020 found Mr. Babu guilty and condemned him to death by hanging, however, the court okayed a lawyer representing Babu Emmanuel to reapply the court's verdict. Mr. Babu according to judge Ogwili Kuot was hung at 2:00 PM local time today (Friday)
However, judge Kuot couldn't confirm whether the remains of Babu Emmanuel has been handed over to his family for burial, an attempt by this publication to reach Mr. Edward the father of the deceased children for his reaction was fruitless as his known phone number was unreachable.
