Rebecca Nyadeng Underwent surgery

Juba, 28 December 2021: A message posted on social media claimed to be from the office of Vice President for the youth and sports cluster, with an image of vice President madam Rebecca Nyadeng the widow of late John Garang is said to be critically ill. The letter bears no official heading paper and signature, and it has no date, further, the letter did not indicate where exactly Vice President Nyadeng is hospitalized.

However, what cannot be disputed is the image, the image has projected that Nyadeng seems to be weak and in serious pain.

Below is the letter copy and paste by this publication:

"After suffering for years with a large goiter (a swelling in the thyroid gland/ neck), H.E. the Vice President underwent a 4-hour operation to have it removed.

Although Doctors said it was a challenging procedure, they were confident that she would make a full recovery and were encouraged by her resilience. Overall, the procedure was a success.

We thank all our friends and family for their prayers, well wishes, and warm words of encouragement during this time. The Vice President was comforted by the outpouring of love and support and looks forward to welcoming a promising New Year, 2022. We thank you for your continued prayers."
