Juba, 1 December 2021; In a presidential decree issued this evening read out on state-run SSBC, President Kiir appoints Major General Martin Abucha Gama to head the Ministry of Mining.
General Abacha's appointment comes days after the former Minister of Mining Eng. Henry Adwar Dilah who doubled as deputy chairman and commander in chief of SPLA-IO has submitted his resignation letter to Dr. Riek Machar who is commander in chief of SPLA-IO under his control.
Until his appointment to head Ministry of Mining Gen Martin Abucha Gama was Director [ office Manager] in the office of Riek Machar.
Critics, however, wonder how General Abucha who never holds such a high executive position rather than being an office manager in the office of Riek Machar will manage to run a ministry.
General Abucha according to the information obtained by this website holds a degree or master's degree in computer science. General Abucha is a dual South Sudanese -American citizen.
He joined SPLA-IO around 2014 as a civilian and he enrolled in the shortest military training in Pagak and he rose quickly to the rank of Major General, however, according to information available he never held an assignment in the military field.
Congratulation to Gen Abucha and SSLN wishes him well in his new appointment as Minister of Mining.
