ETHIOPIAN PREMIER ABIY IN BATTLE FIELD AS FIGHTIN
As fighting intensifies in Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Premier Minister Ahmed Abiy, the 2019 Noble Peace Prize winner is now leading his troops in the frontline.
In an interview shown Friday on the state-affiliated Oromia Broadcasting Corporation channel, in the early hour on Friday, the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize winner premier Abiy with a rank of Lt Col in Ethiopian said he was certain of achieving victory against the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) rebel group.
"Until we bury the enemy... until Ethiopia's independence is confirmed, we won't reverse course. What we want is to see an Ethiopia that stands while we die," said Abiy.
He added that the military had secured control of Kassagita and planned to recapture Chifra district and Burka town in the Afar region, which neighbors Tigray, the TPLF's stronghold.
"The enemy doesn't have the standing to compete with us, we will win," he said.
The fighting started in Ethiopia last November immediately after premier Abiy has promised to crash the TPLF rebel, he said troops to northern Ethiopia and within weeks Premier Minister Abiy announced victor, however, the TPLF rebel groups in the past week have captured many towns vowing the bring the conflict in the seat capital.
