SCORES WERE KILLED IN OWINY KIBUL CATTLE RAIDING

Nimule, 16 May 2020; Scores of South Sudan People's Defense forces, (SSPDF) cattle owners, and cattle raiders were killed in fierce fighting that happened on Thursday this week nearly Owiny Kibul military training site, Magwi County Eastern Equatoria state.  

According to a report coming from security forces based in Nimule, that group of heavily armed youth suspected to be from Eastern Equatoria State raided several cattle camps near Aswa military detach and made away with unspecific numbers of cows.  

However, the movement of the armed youth according to the security sources has been monitored by SSPDF in Owiny Kibul military training site, the two sides have strong intelligence over each other, the armed youth have been tipped off by their intelligent sources in the ground, so the group decided to split into two; a section of them have decided to escort the cows while the second group laid an ambush not knowing they themselves have been ambushed by SSPDF backed by some cattle keepers who are also heavily armed.  

Sources within the army divulged to this report scores of raiders were killed while others were captured with injuries, meanwhile, the same military source told SSLN that the army has also lost a significant number of the soldiers while some have suffered severe injuries, the same source further said those wounded from the side of SSPDF and the allies from cattle keepers were transported to Nimule regional Hospital for better medical management.  

So far, no group has clam responsibility and numbers of the those killed and injured remained unknown. however, the same source within SSPDF revealed to this publication that some captured youths were later executed by the army and cattle keepers.
