Nimule, 1 April 2021; The deadly attack along Juba-Nimule A43 highway this morning at Amee junction left five people dead, a medical source in Nimule Hospital who spoke to South Sudan Liberty News in a condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to media, he said among the five dead, three people are identified with their identity cards are said to be Kenyan nationals. while two dead bodies can't be identified without DNA because they burned beyond recognition. 

Meanwhile, a source within the South Sudan People's Defense Force (SSPDF) who was among the first response team revealed to this publication that the attackers looked to have used RPG to neutralized the lorry truck, he further added that the burning of the truck could also be a result of the RPG striking directly to the engine of the transport truck. 

There is no claim of responsibility from any group or individual about the deadly attack on the civilian lorry, this is the deadly attack since the government and SPLA-IO have normalized their relationship since 2018. 

However, in recent days Juba-Nimule highway has witnessed a lot of incidents that involved Dinka nomadic groups and some farming tribes in the area. 

According to a survivor who escaped the deadly attack this morning, the assailants seemed to be in a hurry because they left the scene of the deadly attack faster. 

Meanwhile, NAS has quickly distanced its forces and said they have no forces in the area, NAS further said they have no intention to harm civilians since their objective is to protect civilians and their property. The statement from NAS seen by this publication further said there are many armed groups in the area including SSPDF who are all over the bushes harvesting charcoal.
