NAS SENIOR COMMANDER GEN MAX MARLI LINO AZO HAS BEEN ARRESTED IN ADJUMANI UGANDA
Adjumani, 28 Feb.2020; Ugandan police snatched one of the leading commanders of NAS, General Max Marli was arrested from Maaiji refugee camp Adjumani district, the arrest took place at around 4:00 local time, a senior National Salvation Army [NAS] commander Major General Max Marli Lino Azo nicknamed Ebi was arrested on Saturday Maaji 2 Refugees Camp and brought to Adjumani.
According to relatives and friends who talked to South Sudan Liberty News on condition of anonymity, General Max is being held at Adjumani police station.
According to an eyewitness who spoke to Liberty News, General Max was picked up from a home of relatives in the camp as he was attending a meeting related to a funeral rite of his relative who died last year. According to the same eyewitness, the refugee camp commander came with Ugandan police. The same source divulged to this publication that the settlement camp and the police came politely requested General Max to go with them. He was then handcuffed before the very eyes of his relatives put into the car before they drove away.
Besides arresting General Max, no other persons were arrested with him, the police and settlement camp did not provide any information as to why he was being taken away.
Before he defected to NAS General Max Azzo was the commander of the Anyanya division, based in Eastern Equatoria state.
