ICC HAS OFFICIALLY ACKNOWLEDGES RECIEVING LETTER TO POSSIBLE INVESTIGATE PRESIDENT MUSEVENI FOR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY
Kampala, 20 Nov.2020; There is a huge breakthrough that would turn the political landscape of Uganda.
On Tuesday Uganda's main opposition party, Forum for Democratic (FDC) Change celebrates partial victory as it has officially been notified by the office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague the Netherlands about the crimes and other crimes committed by President Museveni, though this cannot be a smoking gun or cannot immediately be translated into action of investigation process against Museveni by the International Criminal Court.
" The office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court acknowledges receipt of your document/letter" read the letter signed by Mark P. Dillon head of information and Evidence Unit in the office of Prosecutor.
Mr. Mark P. Dillon further said, " This communication has been duly entered in the Communications Register of the office. We will give consideration to this communication, as appreciate, in accordance with the provisions of the Rome Statute of International Criminal Court."
Mr. Dillon, " please note this acknowledgment letter does not mean an investigation has been opened, nor that an investigation will be opened by the office of the Prosecutor" read the letter a copy seen by this publication.
Mr. Dillon assured the applicant that as soon as a decision is reached the applicant which is FDC or People Government led by Dr. Kizza Besigye will be informed.
" As soon as a decision is reached, we will inform you, in writing, and provide you with reason" concluded Mark P. Dillon.
One of the reasons for the establishment of ICC is to investigate genocide characterized by ethnic cleansing, racial or religious group by killing its members or by other means: causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.
So, given the reasons for the establishment of the ICC, most likely Museveni will be investigated for the genocide his security forces have committed in Rwenzururu kingdom in 2016, where more than 167 ethnic Bakonzo people, were in Kasese and Bundibugyo districts in Uganda’s Rwenzori region.
Other areas that will see Museveni been investigated could include the atrocity committed by Museveni's forces commanded by his younger brother Salim Saleh aka Caleb Akandwanaho in Acholi land, northern Uganda in the name of flashing out the notorious rebel of Joseph Kony's Lord Resistant Army. And targeted killing and torture of opposition members including the bloody killing of at least 29 unarmed civilians were killed on Wednesday by security forces, the protesters took on the streets to protest the wanton arrest of Presidential candidate popstar Bobi Wine real name Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu. who was arrested by police in Luuka District eastern region.
