Juba, 5 March 2020: South Sudan Transitional Government of National Unity has reached an agreement on the allocation of Ministries. A source who has full knowledge about the talks between the parties told this publication on Wednesday from capital Juba that SPLM-IG, SPLA-IO, and South Sudan opposition Alliance [ SSOA] have reached an agreement over the allocation of Ministries. 

According to the agreement SPLA-IO will settle on Ministries of Defense, Petroleum, Mining, Federal Affairs, Water Resource, Energy &Dams, [Gender, child and Social Welfares], Health and General Education. 

The agreement also gave SPLA-IO deputies Cabinet affairs, Interior, Finance and Planning. 

The agreement will also see SPLA-IO presides over three states, and it will have the power to appoint three governors, namely Eastern Equatoria State, Lakes state and Upper Nile state. 

The alliance of opposition/SSOA will now take Ministries of agriculture, Labor and Higher Education and deputy information Minister. 

Meanwhile, other opposition groups will take the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs 

Former Detainees will get away with the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and Transport. 

President Kiir’s mainstream SPLA/M will now according to the agreement if confirmed will have,  Foreigner Affairs & International Cooperation, Ministries of Interior, Justice & Constitutional Affairs, Finance, National Security, Minister in the office of the President, Security adviser, Parliamentary Affairs, livestock & Fishery, Trade & Industry, Environmental & Forestry, Wildlife & Conversation, Culture & Sport.
