DEADLY CLASHES BETWEEN DINKA AND MADI UGANDA LEFT 4 DEAD
A deadly clash between native Madi-Uganda and Dinka refugees in Nyumanzi refugee camps in Dzaipi Sub-county which left 4 people dead according to the sources who spoke to SSLN, and several others have sustained injuries and are receiving treatment in Adjumani Hospital.
Several eyewitnesses told SSLN Wednesday afternoon that several Security forces both from Ugandan Police and Uganda's People Defense Force/UPDF have heavily deployed at the Nyumanzi Refugee settlement in Dzaipi Sub County, Adjumani district after deadly clashes between Dinka community and their host Madi-Uganda earlier today.
Several eyewitnesses told this reporter, the trouble started on Tuesday after the Dinka ambushed and killed a local by name Amanzuru Stephen who is in his 20's, on learning about the death of one of their own, the host Madi community organized and in a revenge attack, three Dinka men were will killed, and score others from both sides have sustained injuries.
According to the report, some businesses in the area have been looted and many people were displayed and sought safety in neighboring villages for their lives. Source further said Security forces fired teargas and live bullets to calm the situation.
The area LC111, Mr. Derimo who is the head of security in the area refused to take questions from media and instructed that local media should not interview any member of the community in order not to send wrong messages to the public.
The deceased man suspected to have been killed by the Dinka ethnic hails from Ovuvu village in Arinyapi Sub County. It is against this background that the Madi Community today woke up with machetes including arrows and bows in a retaliatory attack that left several people severely injured and three confirmed dead from the side of Dinka.
The critically injured persons were rushed at different health centers for treatment, according to eyewitnesses, two ambulances were spotted ferrying the injured this afternoon to Adjumani general hospital.
This is the second time such fighting have occurred between the Dinka and their host, in 2017, at Ayilo camp, Three Dinka raped a 13year old school girl and drown her in the stream, this spark clashes between the Dinka refugees and the host community.
