Juba, 10 December 2019: Airplane belonging to Ethiopian Airlines has escaped narrowly crashed in Juba international Airport at 6:30 PM local time this evening. Airport official in Juba International Airport who spoke to SSLN in a condition of anonymity said a medium-size plane with 21 passengers on board skipped the runway while taking off from Juba International Airport this evening.
He further said all the 21 passengers and the crew members are safe, no one is injured and he blames the incident on bad weather in Juba.
He said the plane was supposed to be heading to Addis Ababa, but the program was aborted after the accident to access the condition of the plane. He says Ethiopian Airlines will send another plane to ferry the 21 passengers tomorrow.
However, another official said the problem could relate to an insufficient power supply to light all the lights on the runway, Juba airport operation fully depends on power supply provided by generators.
