GOV'T FORCES DEPLOYED TO ASWA AS THE FORCE COMMANDERS IN JUBA OBJECT TO THE CANTONMENT SITE TO SPLA-IO IN PAGERI
Nimule, 21 February 2019; Hardly a week has passed by after the highly publicized confidence building exercise between SPLA- IO and SSPDF held in Pageri, the SPLA-IO Pageri brigade has started to move to inspect cantonment site at Aswa River vicinity situated in Loa, this was part of their preparation to move the troops and their military equipment to their new location as soon as possible.
However, challenges have already started to emerge right from the beginning. A team of SPLA-IO troops sent from their current locations to come and inspect the cantonment site reached a deadlock, as their counterparts South Sudan People's Defense Force troops refused to move away from Aswa. Instead, they (SSPDF) offer to show a cantonment site for SPLA-IO army, on the eastern side of Aswa River. Such a posture goes against the spirit of the implementation of the security arrangements -- part of the peace agreement.
Our informant within SSPDF headquarters, who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity, said that the SSPDF soldiers in Pageri County are told by their superiors at the military headquarters, to dodge, delay and resist any attempt to relocate a cantonment site in Nimule.
Meanwhile, in a related news, a senior government intelligent agent in Nimule leaked to our reporter that on 20-02-2019, Ambrose Ring Deng, the chairman of Jeng Council of Elders (JCE) arrived Nimule and held secretive closed-door meeting with senior Dinka community leaders, where they discussed plans to sabotage the return of Madi people to their homes and the reporting of SPLA-IO soldiers to the cantonment area.
According to a highly placed source who has knowledge about the closed-door meeting. Ambrose Riing Deng told his audience that Madi boys killed many Dinka generals along Nimule-Juba road and so the Madi should also pay with their blood.
The same source said that as of yesterday (Wednesday) many SSPDF soldiers are deployed along Nimule-Juba road in preparation and anticipation for a very likely confrontation with SPLA-IO soldiers of Pageri brigade.
