Nesitu, 1 February 2019; South Sudan Liberty News has learned that on 30 January 2019, National Security Services [NSS] has pulled out four men on a bus traveling from Juba to Nimule. The incident is reported to have taken place at Nesitu checkpoint, about 20 km from country's capital Juba.
An eye witness who was on the same bus told this reporter five men were snatched by NSS personnel both in military uniforms and plain civilian clothes.
The eye witness identified the five men as ethnic Madi and Acholi, among the five three are from ethnic Madi and two Acholi. The same eye witness identified one of the five men by his first name as Taban, and Taban is said to be from Opari.
It is reported that the five men were immediately returned to Juba. No apparent reason was given for their detention. However, someone at the checkpoint in Nesitu overheard that the men were accused of trying to escape from Juba to join SPLA-IO.
Families and relatives of the arrested men are not been informed about the whereabouts of their arrested members of families.
