HENRY ODWAR, THE DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF SPLA-IO ARRIVED IN JUBA FOR PRE-TRANSITIONAL COMMITTEE MEETING

Juba, 9 November 2018; In an unexpected move, the deputy chairman of the main armed opposition of SPLA-IO, Henry Dilah Odwar has landed in the morning hour of Friday in Juba international port.

Henry Odwar's returns to Juba is seen as a good gesture from Machar's SPLM-IO group to fully participate in the implementation of a revitalized peace agreement.

Shortly after landing at Juba international airport, Mr. Odwar says, "It is only through peace that we can realize a meaningful dialogue, it is only through peace that shall lead to forgiveness among ourselves,"

Henry Odwar who assumed the top command and had traveled to many world capital cities during the last two years under the helmet of SPLA-IO, while his boss Machar was placed under house arrest [confinement] in South Africa. His returned to Juba to participate in the meeting of the pre-transitional committee is seen as a symbolic good gesture from SPLA-IO.

" I want to assure South Sudanese that we shall work hard to make sure that we catch up because we are behind schedule,” said Henry Odwar.

He further says he is very happy to be back home, " Thank you very much and I am really happy to be home. God bless South Sudan," he added.

However, it is not immediately clear whether Mr. Odwar is the kinds of John the Baptist who had come ahead of Jesus to prepare the way, in this case, it remains to be seen whether his boss Machar will follow him to Juba soon.

previously Machar says he won't return to Juba unless President Kiir lifts the state of emergency imposed by Kiir since 2013, throughout the country, Machar's group further said their boss will not return to Juba before fully security protection is accorded to him by Rapid Protection Force.
