Nasir,12 Feb 2018; The death toll as result of this morning clashes between the regime's forces and armed opposition loyal to the former First Vice Machar, near Nasir stand at 48 dead from government side and three from SPLA-IO according to sources on the ground.

This morning government and opposition have trade accusations against each blaming the other for attacking. This however prompted all the armed and non-armed oppositions group to abandoned the talks and woke out of the ongoing peace talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in protest against Juba.

Meanwhile the senior armed opposition spokesperson, Brig general William Gatjiath confirmed to SSLN that the fighting was in Torpuot, located some 18 km from Nasir town.

Brig William said, "This Monday morning, on the 12/2/2018, the Merciless regime’s forces came out and attacked the SPLA (IO) position at Torpuot and Nyatoot in Sobat state, the distance of 18km and of course, this is a well -known violation against the (HLRF) road map going on in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The SPLA (IO) forces under command of Cdr. Major General Tut Riek of Division Three (3) made an decisive respond against the attackers and the merciless regime’s forces fell under the desperately hot repulses by the freedom fighters toward Nasir town" he added.

At the time of speaking to us, the General informed that thirty-seven (37) regime soldiers left lifeless in the open air after the attack and the noises of guns are still thunderously heard from the town of Nasir.

It is clear that the regime in Juba doesn't adhere to any discussion that makes possible political solution in the country. Therefore, Salva Kiir is cheating the donors' fund for  the last five (5) years and this manner needs appropriate observation response from IGAD, AU, Troika and indeed the International community to make a prompt investigation as to why regime still intensifying fighting in the country while the world is busy making all efforts to brings peace into the war-torn nation.
