THE TWO FORCES CLASH IN THE OUTSKIRT OF BENTIU ON SATURDAY MORNING
Bentiu, 10 Feb 2018; The military and defense department of armed opposition loyal to the former First Vice President Riek Machar accused the Juba regime for attacking SPLA-IO in Koch county as Juba delegation refused to sign the Declaration of Principles on Friday.
"Having declined to sign the Declaration of Principles (DOP) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the Juba regime is now intensifying its flagrant violation of COH agreement in Unity State where the Juba regime forces this Saturday morning moved out of their base at Rier in Koch County and attacked our SPLA (IO) positions at Buaw in the same County some 25 kilometers from Bentiu" said Brig William Gatjiath Deng the spokesperson of SPLA-IO.
"As I write, the fighting is still going on, as the gallant SPLA (IO) forces of South Area Division under Cdr Major General Dok Wanjang continues engaging the Juba regime aggression towards Rier and Bentiu"
Yesterday, the government delegation to the High-level Revitalization refused to sign the Declaration of Principles citing article 28 should be deleted from the document because the term used by mediators in article 28 is punitive to violator or peace spoilers.
