Nimule, 9 Feb. 2018; Major General Jildo Oling Baranya, a notorious government general pass away this morning. The notorious general Jildo Oling Baranya died this morning in a road accident along Juba- Nimule road, near Aswa Bridge, Loa Payam, Pageri County.
According to eye witnesses and survivors, General Jildo Oling was travelling in unmarked civilian car escorted by few soldiers mainly his bodyguards. He was travelling from Nimule when unexpectedly the vehicle he was seated in was instantly crushed by speeding Gateway bus which is coming from Juba heading to Kampala, Uganda.
General Jildo Oling according to eye witnesses at the scene died instantly, however, some of his escorts and bodyguards survived serious injuries although other might have lost their lives with their boss.
General Oling who is the SPLA-IG division 7 overall commander based in Torit. He was said to be in Nimule to hold military briefing with garrison commander of Nimule and other field commanders of Pageri, Aswa and other security organs in Pageri County.
Some details within the military sources in Nimule, indicated that General Oling held a meeting in Nimule with senior army officers and was going to brief soldiers in Moli about the plan to attack SPLA- IO positions in Ma'di and Acholi corridors and in pretext to blame SPLA- IO for violating the cessation of Hostilities.
Some facts about the late general: General Oling rose to high rank from 2014, the same year [late 2014] Oling was transferred from Nasir where he led expeditions against the SPLA-IO leadership. In one of the battles around Nasir in April 2014, where General Oling took personal charge and commanded the fight where he sustained serious wounds though not life threatening.
While in Eastern Equatoria States particular in former Magwi County, general Oling operated to quell rebellion in Acholi and Ma'di land for nearly three years before his assignment as Division Commander in Torit late 2017.
General Oling untimely death got mixed reactions from local community leaders, one particular elder who asked this reporter to withhold his identity due to fear of retribution said, " the bad you do will follow you, and the evil you do with remain with you" he added that the gods of the land and mountains have acted.
He concluded by saying" in both Acholi and Ma'di cultures when you planned evil to kill the sons of the soil their blood will affect you, so what happened this morning is a lesson for sons and daughters of the soil who are still serving in the tribal regime and have turned against their own people because of greedy" he warned.
General Oling lifeless body which was crushed beyond recognition was brought to Nimule Hospital Mortuary with the bodies of some of his bodyguards.
Police in Nimule with military intelligences have launched investigation to probe the cause of the accident, meanwhile the unidentified Gateway bus driver is said to be badly beaten and kept is in inhuman condition at military barrack in Nimule. The identity and nationality of the bus driver remain unknown.
