GOVERNOR OF TORIT STATE ORDERS DINKA COWS TO LEAVE NIMULE WITHIN DAYS

Nimule, 15 September 2018; Governor of Torit state, Hon Tobiolo Alberio has been camping for days in Nimule, South Sudan Liberty News can confirm. Governor's encampment in Nimule is followed by heavy deployment of military personnel into Nimule in the last two days.

SSLN has learned with clarity that the deployment of the heavy military presence in Nimule was with the order of governor Tobiolo Alberio to implement the order for Dinka cattle to leave Madi corridor of Pageri county as peace agreement has been reached.

A source in the office of governor Tobolio who asked for his identity not to be made available said the soldiers have begun the operation to ensure all the cattle are driven out of Nimule and entire Madi area to enable native Madi people to return to their home without intimidation.

However, it remains unclear whether the governor will achieve his goal to drive cattle keepers with their cows out of Madi land. There are people who expressed doubt and said Governor Tobolio is playing with fire and risking to be relieved of his position as the cows are said to belong to senior SPLA and government ministers including the Defense Minister and President Kiir himself.

Governor Tobolio's order came just a week after a senior Uganda people Defense Forces retired four stars general said it is a matter of time UPDF will set boots back into South Sudan, particularly in Pageri County to chase away the occupying forces of Dinka cattle keepers.

The senior four stars retired general confirmed the cows belong to senior SPLA generals, as such Uganda needs to take shift and bold step to ensure occupying forces are driven out otherwise South Sudanese refugee living in Uganda will continue to cause competition for little resources with Ugandan nationals.
