FIGHTING RESUMED IN MANY PARTS OF THE COUNTRY AS PEACE TALKS IN KHARTOUM POSTPONED

This morning the 20/07/2018, at about 6:00 AM, the regime’s forces attacked Bagari and they are also on the move to attack Mboro as I write.

The anti-peace aggression resumed yesterday the 19/07/2018 when the same enemy forces attacked two SPLA- IO defensive positions of Mboro at 11:30 AM and Bagari at about 5:00 PM with the intention of capturing them, but they were all repulsed by the SPLA IO gallant forces, that’s why they are back on it today" said Lam Paul the deputy military spokesperson of SPLA-IO

Col Lam also accused the regime's forces of violating the ceasefire agreement signed by warring party. "On 18th July 2018 at about 10:30 AM, the Regime carried out an aerial hostile surveillance on SPLA- IO positions in Pageri, Imotong State. That reconnaissance mission lasted for more than 30 minutes, and we consider it as another act of provocation by the Juba regime at the time when the SPLA- IO is fully committed and observing the permanent ceasefire" he said.

"Furthermore, there is a buildup of the regime’s forces in Rimenze 18Miles west of Yambio -Maridi road with the aim of attacking the SPLM/A-IO base in Rii-Rangu; (Western Equatoria)" Though SSLN cannot independently verify this.

fighting according to Col Lam has also been ongoing in Kajo-keji, "In Yei River State, on 18/07/2018, the enemy reinforcements arrived in Kajo-keji from Kaya via Koboko, Yumbe, and Moyo to further their military campaign in the county against the SPLA -IO."

Col Lam further accused Juba of a constant offensive on the position of SPLA-IO despite the ongoing talks in Khartoum to end the 4years conflict in the country.

"It should be noted that the regime has been on the constant offensive against the SPLA IO positions on the ground since signing and declaring the permanent ceasefire; at the same time, It’s negotiators have also stalled the peace talks in Khartoum"

" The world should, therefore, know that the regime and its allies don’t want any chance of peace in South Sudan," said Col Lam

The SPLA IO will continue to observe the permanent ceasefire while reserving the rights for self-defense and protection of civilians.
