PRESIDENT KIIR LAID WREATH AT THE GRAVE OF HIS LATE WIFE IN PAGERI

Pageri, 5 March 2018; President Salva Kiir on Saturday pay tribute to his late wife who died in 1993 with natural death. Kiir was accompanied by several senior military officers including his former commander of Tiger Battalion, Lt General Marial Chanuong Yol Mangok, current commander of Presidential guard Maj General Lual Wek Guem and many others. 

Kiir and his town unnamed sons and other relatives spent closely 30 minutes at the grave of his late wife Achol Philip Nhial who was buried in Pageri in 1993. Close source within security in Pageri told SSLN every year President Kiir is making unannounced visit in the area to pay respect to his deceased wife. The source further said the tomb was previously kept as unmarked tomb, and in the past several years Kiir have been coming to the area to visit the tomb of his late wife privately. 

Kiir, his sons and other relatives were seen lighting candles at the grave of his late wife Achol Nhial before they left the grave. There was presence of heavy security deployed in Pageri and the surrounding areas to guide the president and his family.
