Kajo-keji, 26December 2017; SPLA-IO accused the government forces for violating the Cessation of Hostilities, according to the deputy military spokesperson Col Lam Gabriel Paul, the said attacks happened in Ngepo County in Greater Kajo-keji. Lam said fighting starting on 24 December evening till this morning 26December 2017. And he blamed the government forces for attacking the bases of opposition to gain control over territory
"As everyone was celebrating Christmas yesterday the 25/12/2017, the government continued with aggression toward the SPLA IO bases. They attacked the SPLA IO base in Gaderu, Ngepo Payam, Kajo Keji on 24/12/2017 evening and also on 25/12/2017 morning at about 6:00am. Our forces repulsed the attackers and pursued them to their base in Kansuk where more than 20 of them lost their lives and several injured. Our forces also destroyed their store full of weapons and ammunition. The SPLA IO sustained one minor injury only"
He added that the regime forces continue to attack positions of opposition forces in Western Equatoria state to gain more control of territories.
"The government also continued to launch aggressive attacks since 23/12/2017 up-to this morning 26/12/2017 in Bangalo, Mundri West. It should be noted that since the 22/11/2017 when Governor Joseph Ngere and Brig. Korokon decided to order for attacks on our bases in Bari and Kediba, civilians have been displaced into the bushes with no food, shelters or health facilities; and no humanitarian assistance have been rendered to those suffering civilians by any humanitarian agency"
He further accused the governor of Imatong, Mr. Tobiolo Alberto for ordering government soldiers to attack civilian residentials to establish border control at South Sudan-Uganda border. He said the move is aimed to create massive civilians' displacement in the area.
"In another development, the Governor of Imatong State Tobiolo Oromo has ordered the Division 7 Commander Maj. Gen. Gildo Oling to attack the SPLA IO base in Pogee near Uganda border and establish a border post there. This planned attack in pogee is aimed at displacing civilians who have come back home from refugee camps in Uganda to try and settle in the Liberated area under the SPLA -IO.
The SPLA -IO would like to assure the IGAD, AU, TROIKA and the world that it will observe the signed CoH agreement and will only act on self-defense as ordered by the Chairman and Commander in Chief Dr. Riek Machar. The resistance continues"
