SPLA-IO SAYS 14-GOV'T MILITARY INTELLIGENCE OFFICIERS AND COMMISSIONER CAPTURED IN AKOBO WILL FACE SPLA-IO MILITARY LAWS
Akobo, 25th Sept 2017; on Monday spokesperson of SPLA-IO the main armed opposition in the country, Brig General William Gatjiath Deng confirmed the 14-captured government military and civilian administration in Akobo by opposition military. In press statement a copied obtained by this website, Brig Deng says, "14 Juba regime officers are in SPLA (IO) custody"
He accused the 14 mainly military intelligence officers for entering into Akobo illegal to spy for Juba regime to launch an attack on the position of SPLA-IO bases in Akobo. "On Wednesday September 20, 2017, 14 heavily armed security and intelligence officers belonging to the Jieng Council of Elders (JCE) regime in Juba were apprehended and detained by SPLA (IO) at Wechhoak in Akobo"
"Those Juba regime security and intelligence officers entered Akobo illegally and were deployed to Akobo not only to spy on SPLA (IO) positions, as the regime in Juba prepares to launch offensive and disrupt the relative peace and stability being enjoyed in the area", He further accused the now government military officials in the custody of SPLA-IO, including the commissioner for trying to bribe the population with fake and worthless South Sudanese Pounds, " they came with aim to bribe the population with thousands of fake and worthless South Sudan Pounds (SSP) our suffering people to support and mobilize for the planned offensive" partly read the statement.
He further stated that the regime intelligence agents have entered into the area to destabilize the area, " Those Juba regime security and intelligence officers were carrying AK47s with five (5) boxes of AK47 bullets each containing seven hundred fifty (750) bullets"
According to Brig Deng, more guns were discovered in a place called Poolbura. "Additional more guns and ammunitions were discovered to be hidden around Poolbura between Kaikiuny and Akobo".
He added that the spies were captured with highly confidential document and Thuraya satellite phones, "This is also in addition to highly confidential documents and eight (8) very sophisticated Thuraya phones with direct access to Taban Deng Gai (TDG), JCE’s instability agent, General Ajonga Mawut, Juba regime Chief of Defense Forces, General Thomas Duoth Guet, Director General of National Security Service (NSS), and General Thoi, among others".
As a responsible Movement, the SPLM/SPLA (IO) under the able and visionary leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon would treat these subversive individuals as Prisoners of War (POW) subject to SPLM/SPLA (IO) regulations.
