SSLN.The office of SPLA-IO military deputy spokesperson, Col Lam Paul Gabriel confirmed that Thursday deadly attack along Juba-Nimule highway which claimed lives of more than dozen was indeed carried out by their forces in Imatong state, in retaliation to the regimes forces attacks on Civilian and on their bases.
"The SPLA IO would like to make it clear that the ambush on Nimule Juba highway was carried out by its forces of the Anyanya division in Imotong state" Lam said. " The government of Juba has time and again raided our positions and of recent it claimed that the SPLA- IO in Imotong state accepted the National Dialogue" he warns that this is to send signal to Juba that nobody in the rank of SPLA-IO in Imatong State has joined Kiir's national Dialogue.
Lam said "This is our response to the constant attacks on our bases and making false claim about us joining the National Dialogue". He further said"The SPLA- IO will not dialogue without it's Commander in Chief and will not sit back while the government continues attacking it's bases"
According to press statement issued by Lam on Friday the their forces [SPLA-IO ] managed to completely destroyed four Military (04) Land Cruisers, and Nine (09) other Military vehicles. Five (5) Ak47 were recovered in good condition. Contrary to Juba police spokesperson Daniel Justin Boulogne said on Thursday that three civilian buses were burnt into ashes, this however was not mentioned in the press letter by the military wing of SPLA-IO. Lam however confirmed the death of civilians but he said they were killed in crossfire not intentionally. " there were more than forty (40) lives perished including civilians who were caught in crossfire"
He laments the losses of civilian lives caught in cross fire. "The SPLA- IO regrets the lost of civilians lives who felt victims due to exchange of fire with the government forces who used them as covers or human shields" he said, "this was a direct attack on the government escort vehicles which were completely destroyed as reported by the government police spokesperson"
He again cautioned civilians to avoid using military transport to avoid such tragedy of civilians lives from happening. "Civilians are hereby warned to desist from moving with the army on this road to avoid such incidence"
"The government should not think that they can intimidate the SPLA IO and continue to survive using the Juba Nimule highway which is within our reach and control" concluded the message.
